What Does The "Mom Bus" Do?

Join us in the next step: Prototyping and Experiments to advance The "Mom Bus" Idea towards experimentation with a "yes, and!" combination of feedback and experiments with our team of healthcare professionals and designers.

How Did We Get There?

Our participants from Women's Health Design Sprint diverged upon the prompt, "How might we give fourth-trimester mother's a safety net?"

  • practicing deep empathy via an empathy map,
  • creating a fictional representation of the intended user, and
  • plotting the user journey.

Based on generated insights and co-created ideas, we landed on a human-centered solution to prototype:

The "Mom Bus" to bring care to mothers with specific resources and personalized support solutions just for mom & baby.

What Previous Participants Say

"One thing I really loved about this design sprint was the positive vibe. It really opened up the space for everyone, whether a doctor, student, designer etc. to contribute to the design process. Being a part of these design sprints has given me the rare chance to combine a couple of my interests - medicine and design. I learned so much and am looking forward to participating in more design sprints!" Sami Ali | Medical Student at University of Kansas Medical Center
"The Design Sprint was awesome! It got me energized about solving mental health problems and designing practical solutions… Then we designed it. What we created might go on to actually improve the mental health of thousands. Way better than just complaining about a broken system." Alexander Kubacki | Medical Student at the Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont
“The design thinking process helped my team to get out of our own heads and take the perspective of our patients, the users whose needs mattered most to us. With the help of a professional designer, we were able to bring our idea to life in a way that exceeded our expectations.” Arrix Ryce | Medical Student at the Emory School of Medicine
"Collaboration has been amazing! I am encouraged to propose ideas. I found out about Healthcare by Design and signed up immediately to join their design sprints. I met amazing people from different disciplines, there is a sense of unity among the participants, working together to find solutions as a group." Melissa Ho | UX/UI Designer
"The Ideation part of the Design Thinking Process is where the most creative ideas come from. In the ideation session, we start with “how might we?” questions, create ideas, and share “Yes, and!” thoughts to make them better. Design Thinking helps me address the most pressing challenges in healthcare access, education, and hesitancy." Kirsten Hughes | Medical Student at Tulane University School of Medicine
"I feel inspired. I really enjoyed participating in the design sprint! I feel inspired to start incorporating design thinking into other projects I have going on." Jennifer Lor | Medical Student at the Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont
