Our Story
The healthcare landscape is rapidly changing. With decreasing resources, providers and administrators are increasingly being asked to do more with less, leading to employee frustration and burnout and in some cases subpar patient outcomes.
Most providers and administrators entered the healthcare industry to help people and make a positive difference. However, they feel it’s increasingly difficult -- some may even say impossible -- to do so given the constraints and barriers of a bureaucratic system.
"As we work on identifying and treating these complex problems, our work increasingly brought us closer to cutting edge healthcare innovation, we found ourselves working side-by-side with experts in human-centered design. Through these new collaborations, the power of bringing design thinking to healthcare became inevitable."
Healthcare by Design was founded by two medical doctors and one business school professor, bringing together a diverse, and multidisciplinary set of experiences, backgrounds and skills at the intersection of healthcare and human-centered design, aiming to bring patients, providers, and staff back into the center of care.
