Design for Women's Health
We Need Your Help
"COVID-19 pandemic is not just a health issue, it is a profound shock to our societies exposing the deficiencies of public and private arrangements that currently function only if women play multiple and underpaid roles."
- Executive Director of UN Women
How might we harness digital health innovation to reimagine women’s physical + mental + social/financial health in the wake of COVID?
Areas of Focus
Women have been uniquely impacted by the pandemic across all aspects of health and wellbeing. In response, we’re launching a design sprint working with leading experts to co-create new solutions in areas where this impact has been most pronounced.
It Starts with You
The application is open to healthcare professionals, designers, and anyone in between. Enrollment is limited in order to optimize the experience!
*No prior design thinking experience is required.
Get Ready to Sprint
We will diverge upon the "how might we?" question, seeking to understand women's needs and pain points, then ideate human-centered solutions.
Sprint Schedule:
4-hour sprint on Sunday, May 16th from 9 AM to 1 PM PST.

What Previous Participants Say
"The Design Sprint was awesome! It got me energized about solving mental health problems and designing practical solutions… Then we designed it. What we created might go on to actually improve the mental health of thousands. Way better than just complaining about a broken system." Alexander Kubacki | Medical Student at the Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont
“The design thinking process helped my team to get out of our own heads and take the perspective of our patients, the users whose needs mattered most to us. With the help of a professional designer, we were able to bring our idea to life in a way that exceeded our expectations.” Arrix Ryce | Medical Student at the Emory School of Medicine
"Collaboration has been amazing! I am encouraged to propose ideas. I found out about Healthcare by Design and signed up immediately to join their design sprints. I met amazing people from different disciplines, there is a sense of unity among the participants, working together to find solutions as a group." Melissa Ho | UX/UI Designer
"The Ideation part of the Design Thinking Process is where the most creative ideas come from. In the ideation session, we start with “how might we?” questions, create ideas, and share “Yes, and!” thoughts to make them better. Design Thinking helps me address the most pressing challenges in healthcare access, education, and hesitancy." Kirsten Hughes | Medical Student at Tulane University School of Medicine
"I feel inspired. I really enjoyed participating in the design sprint! I feel inspired to start incorporating design thinking into other projects I have going on." Jennifer Lor | Medical Student at the Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont
